This is a highly textured painting of the ballast tank and hull of the submarine Becuna after the rain. You can take a guided tour of the Becuna, which is part of the Independence Seaport Museum in Philadelphia at Penn's Landing. 
 
Here is a blog post detailing the layering process that went into creating the rich textures and complex colors in this painting. It is so textured that it casts its own shadows, so it is difficult to document with photos.
