This is a highly textured painitng of a transitional space in the stern of the SS United States. These are the steps down from a stage that looks out over the water behind the ship. When standing on the stage, you can see the iconic funnels of the ship.  I believe this is the sports deck portion of the upper deck, but it may be part of the promenade deck. It is such an enormous ship that I got disoriented. 
 
The SS United States is being displaced and seeking a new home. Now through September 12th, 2024, I will be donating 10% of proceeds from sales in this collection to the SS United States Conservancy.
